As we hit the peak of summer, we’re all looking for ways to keep cool and stay hydrated. Water is the most obvious choice, but let’s be honest, it can get boring. But there are ways to make it more fun.

Dill is an herb frequently used with food, but rarely with beverage. Here we combine it with the milder zest of white pepper to create a light, refreshing, water based non-alcoholic cocktail – perfect for drinking at your desk while working, or for a warm afternoon with friends.

Kind Of A Big Dill

4 oz dill and white pepper-infused water

.5 oz mint syrup

.25 oz lemon juice

Combine all ingredients in a vessel of your choice, add ice, garnish with fresh dill, mint, and white peppercorns.

Want to make it a cocktail? Add an ounce of vodka or gin!

To make dill- and white-pepper-infused water:

Slow version: Add 1 oz of fresh dill and ¼ cup of white peppercorns to 32 oz of cold or room-temperature water, preferably filtered or distilled. Peppercorns can be whole, but can also be crushed for greater potency. Cover and refrigerate for 12 hours. Remove dill and strain pepper before serving.

Quick version: Add 1 oz of fresh dill and ¼ cup of white peppercorns to 32 oz of hot water. If doing this on the stove, add ingredients to water and heat only until it begins to boil. Cover and refrigerate for 6 hours. Remove dill and strain pepper before serving.
